The available players from the two CPFC under 8s teams were united to represent the club at the Sylvania Heights Soccer Club gala day.
Kaiden, Angelo, Gerome, Leon, Zachary, Josh, Nelson, Daniel, Nathan & Thomas (absent from photo).
The kids were excited, the regular comp has completed, and their last game was washed out, today they knew they would play a minimum of 4 games.
Game 1 vs Sylvania – nervous start from both teams. Second half the game opened up, with CPFC having multiple shots on goal. A great strike by Nelson hitting the crossbar and bouncing on the line before being caught by the goalie. Ref called it a goal, but was withdrawn after a match official intervened. Final result 0 – 0 draw.
Game 2 vs Marton – a very competitive game with both teams seemed equally matched. A grinding win @ 2 – 1
Game 3 vs Miranda – briliant first half with great teamwork & play – up 3 -1 at the whistle. Second half, fatigue started to set in, CPFC were not as fast on the ball, allowing 3 goals to be scored against them (1 right on the whistle) – an unfortunate loss @ 3 – 4.
Game 4 vs Caringbah. You know the kids are starting to get tired when you’ve got volunteers to be in goal , The pace of this game was definitely slower than the previous three. After leading 1 – 0 in the first half, CPFC had 2 goals scored against them in the second, defeated @ 1 – 2.
The team failed to qualify for the finals, however they played some good football, and had fun, i.e. what a Gala Day is all about.
A big thanks to Sylvania Heights Soccer Club for the invitation.
